CIO Government Summit May 6 - May 9, 2012 call for speakers

Call for Speakers & Panelists

CIO Government Summit - May 6 - May 9, 2012 The Phoenician Resort, Scottsdale, AZ

Topics of Discussion are Set to Include:

  • Reaching for the Cloud - More and more IT departments will steer away from monopolizing IT and instead become stewards of applications and services in the new "Cloud of technology". What changes will this radical shift of focus bring? What challenges and considerations will the Government CIOs have to face, and what tools will they need when they begin implementing Cloud solutions into their organizations?
  • Identity, Privacy, and Informed Consent in the Age of the Internet - There is a wealth of valuable information that we want to share that makes life better, richer, more efficient. But this is becoming a most delicate balance. This session will discuss how we can create incentives for users and providers to both Use and Protect information about themselves and others.
  • The Power of IT: the Changing Relationship Between Citizen and Government - Technology enables all individuals to play a significant role through the exponentially increasing effect of new communication channels, social networking and social media. This session will discuss and highlight how a small action by an individual may have a tremendous social impact and reach out beyond the scope of the local community.
  • Talent Management and Retention - Identifying key members of the IT team and hiring new talent are only part of the process. Every organization must also be able to retain the talent it already has.
  • Designing a Strategy for Database Access and Secure Data Access - Many organizations are beginning to move to web-based services due to increasing internet reliability, data storage efficiency, and the lack of a need for dedicated IT staff to manage the hardware. This session will discuss the best practices for CIOs when designing a database access strategy.
